Baxter County Stands Up

There have been several protests/rallies for democracy held in Mtn.Home over the last couple months, with more in the works. The Ozark Forward ladies group, members of the DPBC, and other concerned citizens have made signs and gathered around the courthouse in Mtn.Home to demonstrate their frustration with anti-democratic actions going on in the United States, with the current administration. The events have been part of a larger nationwide movement, spearheaded by the 50501 movement. ​​The first 50501 protests were a decentralized rapid response to the anti-democratic and illegal actions of the Trump administration and its plutocratic allies. The idea—50 protests in 50 states on 1 day—was born on r/50501 (reddit) and spread rapidly on social media. The movement has mobilized millions of people and brought together a growing network of organizers and organizations, both new and established.

The 50501 movement shows the world that the American working class will not sit idly by as plutocrats rip apart their democratic institutions and civil liberties while undermining the rule of law. 

It's unfortunate that local new sources won’t cover these events, but people will continue to show up and express themselves. They are showing up for Democracy, due process, education, LGBTQ rights, national parks, libraries, social security, medicaid and many other causes that the radical right want to get their hands on.
